1.Plan your Route

Preparation is the key more than ever. Even if it’s your regular route or a trip which you completed a thousand times, you must take each step carefully. Chances are you may run into some temporary road closures as you travel through these hard times.

Since there are restrictions on a state to state travel, before you start the trip it’s best to map out the route you are taking. Individual states and districts have their own restrictions and toll requirements meaning vehicles without proper passes will be billed and also lack food stalls on the road.

2.Packing and Sanitizing

After route planning, the next thing to do is get your supplies in order. Doctors recommend packing disposable gloves, disinfecting wet wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues and sealable disposable plastic bags with your snacks, bottled water, and medications.

Drivers should try to keep their surface and hands clean while on the road. Good Hygiene on the road is the same as that at home but when it comes to road drivers should be extra vigilant as you are using public restrooms and gas stations.

Drivers should,

  • Wear disposable gloves and face masks when they are exposed to gas stations and other public places and discard the gloves on the disposable plastic bags if they can’t find any trash cans nearby.
  • Use tissue papers to exit out of public restrooms after washing their hands
  • Pay with a card rather than cash as cards can be wiped clean using disinfectant after use

3.Closely Monitoring the Situation

Drivers should compulsorily follow updates on COVID-19 including the guidance from local health officials and WHO. Each country has a specific task force solely dedicated to suppressing the issue and continue to take necessary actions to help save the community.

So drivers should be in touch with the officials to have the latest updates on prevention techniques to best protect themselves on exposed grounds

4. Dine With Care

With the increase in the number of corona cases, most states in Qatar have taken state-wide shelter, meaning they have halted restaurants, dine-in and drive-through services including major hotel and restaurant chains.

The only thing available is the takeout service which is a good idea since it limits your exposure in a large group, regardless you should be careful while dining out in exposed conditions.

5. Doze Off Carefully

For drivers while on road brings up the necessity to stay somewhere overnight, in light of the coronavirus outbreak many hotels and major chains have shutdown services along with the country. So it’s better to call ahead and make reservations if available.

Some hotels still operate by loosening their cancellation policies and ramping up cleaning procedures in lobbies and rooms. Even with all these precautions, you should sanitize your rooms completely by yourself and limiy=t the number of people visiting your room during your stay.
